Research Title
Integrated Planning and Scheduling for Supply Chain Optimization

Research Objectives
The performance of the supply chain system is generally optimized first by classifying the activities into two levels, planning, and scheduling, and then calculating the optimal decisions for both levels. The planning level is concerned about generation of production and inventory targets while the scheduling level determines operational decisions, such as tasks assignment, production sequences etc. Since, the planning problem does not consider the operational details like production sequences; the targets generated at planning level may turn into infeasible scheduling decisions. To achieve global optimal and feasible solutions, the inter-dependencies between the planning and scheduling decisions should therefore be taken into account. Additionally, demand is the most important input parameter for the supply chain optimization and accurate prediction of demand is very difficult task. In order to achieve optimal performance, the uncertainty information should be considered in the optimization.

The main aim of this research is to develop a solution framework to integrate production planning and scheduling activities in the presence of demand uncertainty.
